ANNUALLY WE HAVE ADOPTED SPORTS AND WE OFFER NONCOMPETITIVE ADAPTIVE SPORTS. BUT SOMETHING NEW THAT BETHANY CHILDREN’S IS GOING TO START IS OUR COMPETITIVE SIDE OF THAT. COMPETITIVE PARA SPORTS ARE COMING TO BETHANY CHILDREN’S STARTING SEPTEMBER 1ST. THE LOCAL CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL WILL LAUNCH MULTIPLE WHEELCHAIR BASKETBALL TEAMS, AND IN JANUARY WILL BEGIN ADAPTIVE TRACK AND FIELD ACTIVITIES. HERE WE GO. SIT ON THERE. BUT UNTIL THEN, ALYSSA SHOWED KOCO SEVERAL OF THE ADAPTED SPORTS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE THROUGH OCTOBER AT BETHANY CHILDREN’S FOR PATIENTS TO LET LOOSE AND HAVE FUN. OUR ADAPTIVE SPORTS PROGRAM IS HERE EVERY THURSDAY NIGHT FROM 530 TO 6:30 P.M., AND IT INCLUDES ALL OF OUR INPATIENT OUTPATIENT, COMMUNITY KIDDOS WITH COGNITIVE AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES. THERE ARE CHALLENGES WITH REGULAR SPORTS AND INDIVIDUALS WITH PHYSICAL DISABILITIES BEING ABLE TO COMPETE ALONGSIDE THEIR PEERS, AND WE WANT TO ELIMINATE THAT BARRIER.
