Boost Brain, Bone & Muscle Health at Any Age

At the Flow Space Women’s Health Summit in Los Angeles on Thursday, longevity wasn’t treated like a Silicon Valley endurance sport. Instead, Dr. Robin Berzin—founder and CEO of Parsley Health—made it sound accessible, urgent and deeply female.

“Longevity has been a little bit of a male-dominated space where everybody’s trying to compete to see who can live to 120,” she said. “But I think for women, longevity is about how I look and feel right now, next year and for the next 10 years.”

Moderated by Flow Space’s senior health and longevity reporter Alexa Mikhail, the conversation reframed longevity as something women can build, not chase—and the key, Berzin says, lies in what she calls the “3 Bs.”

The 3 Bs: Brain, Bones and Booty

“I don’t care if you’re 25 or 65—it’s not too late to begin focusing on your brain, bones and booty,” Berzin told the audience, noting that these are the systems that determine how we age.

Her longevity framework starts with the brain—keeping it nourished through omega-3 fats and exercise that boosts brain-derived neurotrophic factor, which supports growth and plasticity. Then come the bones, whose density can begin declining decades before women are routinely screened. “The current recommendation is not to get a DEXA scan of your bones until 65—when over 50% of women already have osteopenia or osteoporosis,” she said. “I’m 44. I have osteopenia in my hips.”

And finally, there’s the booty—her shorthand for muscle mass and metabolic health. “We lose lean muscle mass, which is critical for our metabolism,” Berzin noted. “Exercise is nature’s longevity drug. Lifting heavy weights and doing cardio that stimulates the brain helps us stay strong inside and out.”

Healthspan Over Lifespan

For Berzin, the 3 Bs tie back to a larger truth: what matters isn’t simply living longer, but living well. “People are living longer, but we’re living longer crippled by chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease and dementia,” she said. “I don’t just want to live longer. I want to live healthier.”

That’s the essence of healthspan—the number of years you live in good health, fully able to participate in life. It’s a term Berzin wants women to own as much as men who dominate the biohacking world.

Redefining Midlife Medicine

In her practice, Parsley Health, Berzin’s team has treated more than 50,000 patients—80% of them women—often integrating hormone replacement therapy (HRT) alongside nutrition and lifestyle interventions. But she warned against thinking of HRT as a magic bullet. “Hormones are a huge piece of this, but taking hormones isn’t going to replace your brain, your bones, your booty or your muscles.”

Her message is simple but radical: women deserve prevention-focused care long before decline sets in. “When we talk about midlife and female aging, we tend to focus only on hormones,” she said. But, according to Berzin, longevity needs to be though of a whole-body story.

Longevity as Empowerment

Ultimately, Berzin’s 3 Bs represent more than a protocol—they’re a manifesto for self-agency. “Longevity for women is about wanting to live our stories to the fullest for years to come,” she explained.

Her approach doesn’t require expensive biohacks or lab-grade supplements. It asks women to move their bodies, feed their brains and demand earlier, smarter preventive care. Because, as Berzin reminded the audience, “It’s never too late to start focusing on your brain, bones and booty. That’s the real longevity toolkit.”
